How It Works:
Our Clinical Process.

For many women, the journey to finding answers about your health feels like an uphill battle. At Health Smitten®, we start from a different premise: You are not lazy, failing, or broken. There is often a profound clinical explanation for the overwhelm, brain fog, and executive dysfunction you are experiencing.

Whether it’s the late recognition of ADHD, the turbulent transition of perimenopause, or the complex interplay between neurobiology and weight management, your symptoms deserve a sophisticated, integrated clinical response.

Step 1: Effortless Entry

The traditional path to specialist care often involves months of waiting and the hurdle of obtaining a GP referral. We believe that when you are already struggling with executive dysfunction or burnout, the last thing you need is more administrative friction.

Our process begins with Simple Online Booking. No referral is required, fees are transparent, and you choose the time that fits your life.

Step 2: Bespoke Preparation

Once you have secured your time, the clinical preparation begins. In your confirmation email, you will receive a secure video link and any necessary initial paperwork (like ADHD screening or menopause trackers). Handling this beforehand allows us to walk into your consultation already informed about your history.

Step 3: The Integrated Consultation

This is the heart of the Health Smitten® experience. Our consultations are unhurried, typically spanning 45 to 60 minutes. We look at the “overlap” between ADHD, menopause, and neurobiology—connecting the dots that others might miss.

Step 4: Clinical Management and Clarity

A diagnosis is only as good as the roadmap that follows. Your Nurse Practitioner will provide digital scripts, pathology and imaging requests, diagnostic reports, and specialist referrals—all delivered through a modern, secure digital pathway.

The Nurse Practitioner Difference: A Holistic Philosophy

The reason we can offer this “different kind of experience” lies in the Nurse Practitioner (NP) model of care.

In Australia, becoming an NP requires a career built on advanced clinical expertise, followed by rigorous academic and clinical mastery at a Masters level. While we have the same prescribing and diagnostic authority as a GP within our scope, our philosophy is rooted in nursing, which is inherently holistic.

We don’t see a “patient with ADHD” or a “patient with menopause.” We see a professional, a parent, a carer, or an individual whose life is being impacted by clinical factors. We prioritise collaborative decision-making, ensuring you are an active participant in your treatment planning.

Why we look at the whole picture.

Healthcare is often siloed. You see one person for your mental health, another for your hormones, and another for your physical wellbeing. But your body doesn’t work in silos.

At Health Smitten®, we specialise in the intersections.

    • Masking and Burnout: We understand the incredible cognitive load required to “mask” ADHD symptoms and how that leads to profound burnout.
    • The Oestrogen Connection: We know that oestrogen is a key player in dopamine regulation, which is why ADHD symptoms can spiral during perimenopause.
    • Compassionate Weight Health: We approach weight management through a lens of medical support and neuro-sensitivity, removing the shame.

    A Different Kind of Destination.

Health Smitten® is more than just a telehealth clinic; it is a dedicated space for adults seeking professional support without the rush. Whether you are in a metropolitan centre or a remote rural town, you have access to the same high-tier, compassionate clinical care from the comfort of your own home.

If you are ready to stop wondering why things feel so hard and start looking for a clinical explanation, we are here to help you connect the dots.

Health Smitten is not an Emergency, Urgent Care or Crisis service.

In these instances, please call 000, Lifeline 131 114 or Emergency Mental Health 131 465.
