Book GAHT Assessment – Part 1 Book an Initial ConsultationIs GAHT right for you?
Gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) may be relevant for trans, gender diverse and non-binary adults who would like to discuss medical options that align with their gender identity or personal goals.
Health Smitten provides respectful, individualised telehealth consultations. Care may include clinical assessment, discussion of your goals and medical history, pathology requests, referrals where indicated, prescribing within scope of practice, and ongoing monitoring.
This service may be suitable for adults who:
- Are considering starting gender-affirming hormone therapy.
- Would like to discuss feminising, masculinising or other individualised hormone-care goals.
- Are already using GAHT and would like to transfer ongoing care to Health Smitten.
- Need planned review of pathology, medicines, prescriptions or new concerns relevant to their GAHT care.
- Prefer Australia-wide telehealth care by phone or video.
Treatment recommendations, prescribing and referrals are based on an individual clinical assessment. A consultation does not guarantee that hormone therapy will be clinically appropriate.
Starting GAHT at Health Smitten
If you are not currently using gender-affirming hormone therapy, the initial assessment is usually completed over two appointments. This allows time for assessment, baseline pathology, informed consent and a treatment plan where clinically appropriate.
PART 1

This appointment focuses on understanding your health needs, goals and relevant medical history.
- Discussion of your gender-affirming goals and questions.
- Review of relevant medical history, medicines, allergies and health considerations.
- Discussion of potential benefits, limitations, risks and monitoring needs.
- Planning or arranging pathology and referrals where clinically indicated.
PART 2
GAHT Initial Assessment – Part 2
This appointment follows review of required pathology and other relevant information.
- Review of pathology results and any relevant reports or referrals.
- Informed-consent discussion about treatment options, benefits, limitations, risks and monitoring.
- Discussion of an individual treatment and follow-up plan.

Book this appointment after your Part 1 assessment and requested pathology have been completed, unless we have advised you differently.
A GAHT assessment does not guarantee that hormone therapy will be clinically appropriate or prescribed. Recommendations are based on your individual assessment and informed decision-making.
Already using GAHT?
If you are already using gender-affirming hormone therapy but are new to Health Smitten, you will usually need one Initial GAHT Appointment rather than the two-part commencement pathway.
Before your appointment, please provide the following information where available:
- A current healthcare summary from your GP or treating clinician.
- A current medication summary or medication list.
- Recent relevant pathology results.
- Relevant specialist letters, hospital summaries or treatment plans.
Providing this information before your appointment supports safe continuity of care. Prescribing and any treatment changes require an individual clinical review.
